Hermès Scarf Plumets et Panaches
Year of Issue: 2022
Theme: Vive la Légèreté ( Lighthearted )
Artist: Florence Manlik
Story Behind: “For this delicate design, Florence Manlik was inspired by illustrations from a German album of saddlery and buckles from the early 20th century, which is kept in the Emile Hermes collection. The rooster and ostrich feathers recall the splendour of the parades of yesteryear, during which the horses’ bridles were decorated with feather arrangements known as plumes. The “tail” decorations made of horsehair complete the ceremonial ornaments of these colourful carriages.”

Hermès Scarf Marble Silk Brides de Gala
Year of Issue: 2022
Theme: Vive la Légèreté ( Lighthearted )
Artist: Hugo Grygkar/Kyoto Marble
Story Behind: “Based on the design of the Brides de Gala scarf created by Hugo Grygkar in 1957, the Brides de Gala scarf needs no introduction. Its numerous reinterpretations – Fleuries, Love, Bayadere, Shadow, Finesse and many others – exemplify the timelessness of the original design that has continued to embody the elegance of Hermes for over six decades. Two ceremonial bridles from the second half of the 19th century face one another. The meticulous architecture of the design accentuates the delicate chiseled decorations, coats of arms, foliage and mermaids, as well as the work of leather.”

Hermès Scarf Les Ailes de Pégase
Year of Issue: 2022
Theme: Vive la Légèreté ( Lighthearted )
Artist: Camille Pozzo Di Borgo
Story Behind: “He is one of the most famous mythological creatures in the Greek pantheon, a friend of the muses, son of Poseidon and the Gorgon Medusa. Here, Pegasus spreads his wings in movements that blend with his flowing mane. To draw the delicate muscles of this fantastical horse, Camille Pozzo Di Borgo drew inspiration from comparative anatomy books, as well as from real Irish Cob horses discovered in a small stable not far from her home. She has adopted their spirit and introduced it into her own swirling composition, using layers of transparency with delightful dreamlike effects.”
